Kudam puli (കുടംപുളി ) or Malabar Tamarind is a souring agent used in curries in Kerala, especially in seafood. Unlike its name, Kudam Puli is a small round-shaped fruit which resembles small pumpkin or lemon-shaped fruit . The presence of a hydroxycitric acid in this fruit adds the sour flavor to it.
